We had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, which was the first “Just-Plain-Fun” Day we’ve taken in a while. Well, I say “we” but I guess I mean “me”. Instead of tending to the millions of things that needed to be done inside, I spent the day outside with the kids, their friends, and the horses. I snapped some awesome shots of them playing in the water with the horses. I really enjoyed my day off watching them play in the pond!
After our fun-in-the-sun it was back to work finishing up this year’s school work and projects. Morgan has worked diligently in finishing up all her credits, finishing writing and editing her NaNoWriMo novel for publishing (she gets five books printed for free for meeting her wordcount), working on 4-H record books- which has been a total pain because this is the first year it’s been computerized and the girls have lost hours of work that was suppose to be saved but “somehow” disappeared into cyberspace, getting horses ready for District horse show, getting ready for Bayhouse youth retreat, getting ready for State 4-H competitions (she will be competing in horse judging and educational talks with her equine talk, wow, so much going on!
Taylor has been hard at it finishing up school, getting horses ready for District, getting ready for Bayhouse, busy, busy, busy.
So tomorrow we head out to Port Lavaca for our Bayhouse Youth Camp. We’re really excited because it’s just such an amazing experience, and so much fun, not to mention we’ve been planning, planning, planning for a few months now. Joel Goddard will be back this year (youth minister and amazing praise and worship leader- AMAZING!) and we’re gonna be doing “The Amazing Race”. I will get to be a family leader again, Levi will get to have his own kids group again, boats, friends, sun, and some awesome “God time”.
This year is a little different in that we are leaving on Monday with the last day on Friday. Since our District 4-H Horse show is also Friday, I will be bringing the girls and friends participating in the horse show home on Thursday night, and we will be up bright and early Friday morning to head to the horse show in Robstown with some worn out cowgirls. 🙂
That’s why they’ve worked to get horses clipped, manes pulled, equipment ready, tack and supplies packed, and everything in order to throw it together and head to the show. I’m pretty excited to see them show this year since Morgan will be RIDING Grace this year, and Taylor showing her new paint horse in halter as well and riding in ALL of the Western classes!
The next week Morgan will be headed to Lubbock for State competition with county and district 4-Hers. I won’t be able to go, and I’m sure I’ll be on pins and needles waiting to hear results. It will be so hard missing out on being there to support her, but we’ve got some awesome extension folks and 4-H sponsors going, and she’ll have some good friend there cheering her on, so I don’t feel so bad. The third week in June will be our very first VBS at our church. Cross Trails Cowboy Church will be putting on a Buckaroo camp, yep, out in the arena with horses and all for Preschool through elementary ages. Our youth will be helping out, and I’m sooooo excited to see how God uses us through this camp! The last week in June will be Horse Judging Camp at Texas A&M, and this year Morgan, Taylor and Kaitlyn will be going. I’m excited for them to spend this time together and learning more and improving their judging skills. Morgan LOVED this camp last year and can’t wait to return.
So that’s our June. July will be another episode!! LOL
Let the Summer Fun begin!
