The girls have been working hard this year to learn horse judging with their 4-H club. We were able to attend three competitions this season. The first was in February in San Antonio at the livestock show. This was a HUGE event and there were tons of kids there. Our kids all did a great job and had fun, despite the cold, wet weather. Here’s the team in San Antonio:
March was a busy month for several of our team members, but a few of us loaded up and headed for Houston. We had one full team and two competing as individuals. They improved their scores significantly and really enjoyed the trip to Houston. Morgan was high point individual of our team members.
Here’s our Houston team:
Our final competition for this year was the TAMU Multi-District Horse Judging at College Station yesterday. Our team was the only competitors from our district, so they all won awards. We had one Junior team who won medals for first place team. Taylor ended up with two medals for being the high point Jr. Individual. (Consequently her score tied for third highest score from our district!! Way to go Tayt!)
We had two Intermediate teams, and Morgan ended up with a medal for being on the first place team. She was the second high scoring individual from our district. Way to go Morgan!!
Here’s a photo of the team I borrowed from a friend since I forgot my camera:
And a silly picture:
I’m thrilled that the girls have taken such an interest in this. There’s so much information and learning involved and so many friendships and memories to make with good friends along the way!
