Product Description (DVD video)
A dastardly villain plots to steal the armor of God.
The Commandant of Confusion and his side kick, Chaos, interrupt the Bible Adventure Training Academy and steal the Bible Team’s secret weapon, which helps them put on the full armor of God “anytime, anyplace.” There is a warning label on the secret weapon that reads in part, “this device contains the most powerful weapon known to man, follow instructions closely to prevent severe harm.” Will the Commandant heed the warning? Will the Bible Adventure Team recover it?
Scripture lesson: “God is not a God of confusion but a God of peace.” 1 Corinthians 14:33 (ICB)
This was our first experience with Bibleman, as my little guy just turned four. He hasn’t watched too many superhero movies to this point, but was immediately drawn to the brightly colored masks, capes, and costumes as well as the "light swords."
First time through the movie, he never took his eyes away from the screen . He loved the adventure and it truly capativated his attention. While this movie is recommended for 6-10 year olds, I didn’t see anything that wasn’t appropriate for my little guy who is four. While he might not take away the deeper meanings and principles outlined in the live on-stage version of this adventure series, I do believe he understood the main scripture lesson from Ephesians 6:111 (ICB): "Put on the full armor of God so that you can fight against the devil’s evil tricks." He watched the movie several more times with his older sisters as well as by himself. When I sat down later to watch it with him, he had lots of questions about the devil, and how good prevails. He also requested we buy more Bibleman dvds.
As for myself, I had to keep an open mind throughout the corny acting, storyline and plot. While it seemed a little "in your face" with the scripture principles and morals, my little guy didn’t seem to mind, and I do realize the exaggerated efforts along with the flashy light swords and costumes very much appeal to the intended audience. The interaction with the live audience quoting scriptures and cheering the good guys while booing the bad guys added a fun element to the movie, as with any live taping.
